A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement
and by formal gestures, steps, and poses.

Pre-Ballet (Ages 3-5)

  • Fun games- emphasis on stretching and position

  • Beginning ballet technique and learning to be a ballerina

Ballet I (Ages 5-7)

  • Prerequisite:   Pre Ballet

  • More Structured work with emphasis on position and vocabulary

  • Introduction to Barre Work

Ballet II (Ages 7-9)

  • Continues Technical work with emphasis correct form

  • Introduces Combinations—Barre and Center work

  • Continues introduction to basic ballet steps and vocabulary

Ballet III/IV (Ages 10-12)

  • Continues Technical work with emphasis on correct form and transitions between steps

  • More advanced steps and combinations- pirouettes and petite allegro emphasis

  • Learn body positions (Vaganova, Cecchetti, Balanchine styles introduced)

Ballet V/VI

  • Advanced level work and repertoire

  • Concentrates on learning multiple pirouettes, advanced petite allegro, advanced adagio, etc.

Pre-Professional Ballet

  • High level pre professional work- adagio, petitie allegro, grande allegro (center and barre work)

  • Vaganova, Cecchetti, Balanchine styles utilized (should already be known

  • Advanced concepts of technique, utilization of turnout, etc.

Beginning Pointe

  • Invited by Staff at Dance in the Rockies

  • Learning basic Pointe Skills

  • Strengthening Feet/Ankles

Intermediate Pointe

  • Invited by Staff at Dance in the Rockies

  • Learning advanced Pointe skills- emphasis on center work


Comp Ballet (Competition Ballet) A, B, C, TTA classes are focused on choreography danced by team members in competitions. All teams have an optional competitive ballet class as a 30 minute block after regular technique class.
